Katy Taylor-Mills | Mistress of Murder
My fascination with mystery began in childhood – reading Nancy Drew, Famous Five, and the Secret Seven, along with a love of board games such as Cluedo. I have always been interested in the many sides to a story and the web of truth and lies that leads to a story’s conclusion.
Whilst studying law at university, the people involved in a legal case captivated me. I was intrigued by the way in which evidence could be used to manipulate the truth. After graduating and realising the legal profession wasn’t the right fit for me, I became a high school English teacher.
With a strong background in music and theatre, I have always been accustomed to performance and scripts. I hosted my first murder mystery party in a somewhat spooky hotel in Somerset, England and I was hooked!
After writing and hosting a few more parties for family and friends, I decided to turn my hobby into a business. This coincided with falling pregnant with my second child so it was the perfect time to give it a decent shot.
I have hosted numerous parties since then and have worked with a wide range of private and corporate clients. I love giving people the opportunity to step into a character’s shoes and step away from their reality for a few hours.
The main reason I do what I do is because I have finally found my niche – writing, acting, and meeting great people. Work just doesn’t really feel like work anymore!
